Taxonomy
Locustopsis africanus was named by Ansorge (1991). Its type specimen is Lo UK ARP 1, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Wadi abd el Malik, which is in a Berriasian/Valanginian lacustrine claystone in the Tonsteinserie Formation of Egypt.
