Cheilocephalus was named by Berkey (1898) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Dres-u Cm Fran-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2,81,486]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Corynexochida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cheilocephalidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
