Taxonomy
Falsiformica cretacea was named by Rasnitsyn (1975). Its type specimen is PIN 3426/15, an exoskeleton (female), and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Taimyr Amber, Nizhnyaya Agapa River (PIN collection 3426), which is in a Cenomanian fluvial amber in the Dolgan Formation of the Russian Federation.
