Taxonomy
Parelcana dilatata was named by Carpenter (1966). Its type specimen is MCZ 6304, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Elmo, MCZ 1932 collection Lower Limestone, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.
It was recombined as Anelcana dilatata by Carpenter (1986).
