Taxonomy
Palaeobolbomyia devia was named by Mostovski (2000). Its type specimen is PIN 2239/2196, an exoskeleton (complete male), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2239), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
