Taxonomy
Philorites pallescens was named by Cockerell (1921). Its type specimen is USNM 66571, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is USGS F. 17-4; Little Duck Creek, which is in a Bridgerian lacustrine - large shale in the Green River Formation of Colorado.
