Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
C. F. Kammerer and K. D. Angielczyk 2009No unambiguous autapomorphies diagnose Geikiidae in the analysis of Angielczyk (2007), although the gap coded morphometric character “maximum width of the distal end of the radius relative to the maximum length of the radius” provides support for the monophyly of this clade. Taxon sampling in the analyses of Fröbisch (2007) and Fröbisch & Reisz (2008) differs from that of Angielczyk (2007) by their exclusion of Odontocyclops. Taking this difference into account, the data sets of Fröbisch (2007) and Fröbisch & Reisz (2008) identified two autapomorphies of Geikiidae: (1) posterior portion of zygomatic portion of the squamosal thickened and/or downturned; (2) labial fossa present. However, both of these characters are absent in Odontocyclops (Angielczyk 2002, 2007).
