Taxonomy
Tomia antiqua was named by Aristov (2003). Its type specimen is PIN 3446/8, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Aristovo (PIN collection 3446), which is in a Changhsingian pond siliciclastic in the Salarevo Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Chauliodites antiquus by Aristov (2004) and Ansorge and Brauckmann (2008).
