Natica globosa was named by Hoeninghaus (1829). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Naticodon globosa by de Ryckholt (1847) and Knight (1941); it was recombined as Naticopsis globosa by de Koninck (1881) and Knight et al. (1960).
