Susisuchidae was named by Salisbury et al. (2003). It was considered monophyletic by Fortier and Schultz (2009).
It was assigned to Metamesosuchia by Salisbury et al. (2003); and to Neosuchia by Frey and Salisbury (2007) and Fortier and Schultz (2009).
