Taxonomy
Claraia pulchella was named by Nakazawa (1953). Its type specimen is JM 10047A-a, a valve (right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is San-in Railroad tunnel, Chigono, Y-5, Shimoyakuno, which is in a Smithian marine shale in Japan.
