Taxonomy
Gymnotoceras weitschati was named by Monnet and Bucher (2005). Its type specimen is PIMUZ 25292 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rieber Gulch HB 2003, Augusta Mountains, which is in an Illyrian marine horizon in Nevada.
