Hyphalosaurus lingyuanensis
Taxonomy
Hyphalosaurus lingyuanensis was named by Gao et al. (1999). Its type specimen is IVPP V11075/BMNHC V398 (counterpart), a skeleton (nearly complete skull, mandibles, and well-preserved postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fanzhangzi, Lingyuan, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine horizon in the Yixian Formation of China. It is the type species of Hyphalosaurus.
