Taxonomy
Acidaspis was named by Murchison (1839). Its type is Acidaspis brightii. It is the type genus of Acidaspidinae.
It was assigned to Acidaspidae by Warburg (1925); to Odontopleurinae by Bruton (1967) and Owen (1981); to Acidaspidinae by Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991); to Trilobita by Sumrall and Schumacher (2002); to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Odontopleuridae by Whittington (1956) and Jell and Adrain (2002).
