Metaacidaspis was named by Qiu (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm u Sepkoski's reference number: ZR84]. It is not extant. Its type is Metaacidaspis beigongensis.
It was assigned to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lichakephalidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
