Taxonomy
Plagiostoma polita was named by Newell (1955). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kap Stosch, LK2, Hold With Hope Land, which is in a Wuchiapingian deep-water siltstone in the Ravnefjeld Formation of Greenland.

It was recombined as Elimata polita by Logan (1967).
