Stegocoelia wortheni was named by Knight (1942) [Replacement for Loxonema quadri-carinatus Worthen 1884]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Stegocoelia (Stegocoelia) wortheni by Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Stegocoelia (Taosia) wortheni by Kues and Batten (2001); it was recombined as Taosia wortheni by Wagner (2023).
