Taxonomy
Rhynchonella tommasii was named by Bittner (1890). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Monte Terzadia, Friuli, which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in Italy.

It was recombined as Volirhynchia tommasi by Pálfy (1988).
