Taxonomy
Rhynchonella projectifrons was named by Bittner (1890). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lärcheck near Berchtesgaden, which is in an Illyrian carbonate limestone in the Schreyeralm Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Volirhynchia projectifrons by Dagys (1974) and Pálfy (1988).
