Taxonomy
Palaeomantis schmidti was named by Handlirsch (1904). Its type specimen is 5324, 5320, 5321, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Tikhie Gory (pre PIN), which is in a Roadian lagoonal claystone in the Baitugan Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Palaeomantis.
