Taxonomy
Spiriferella mugunica was named by Pavlova (1991). Its type specimen is PIN 3385/377 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mugun-Obo Mountain, which is in an Artinskian marine horizon in the Tsagan-Ula Formation of Mongolia.
