Taxonomy
Hypoperla elegans was named by Martynov (1928). Its type specimen is PIN 2050/17, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Soyana (PIN collection 2050), which is in a Roadian lagoonal limestone in the Iva-Gora Beds Formation of the Russian Federation.
