Taxonomy
Neospirifer incipiens was named by Plodowski (1968). Its type specimen is SMF 25007 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Burgutsch-Tal, upper Visean, Dasht-e-Nawar, which is in an Arundian/Chadian marine horizon in Afghanistan.
