Calvinella was named by Walcott (1914) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 379]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Saukiidae by Harrington et al. (1959) and Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
