Taxonomy
Helicampodus egloni was named by Obruchev (1965). Its type specimen is PIN 2265/1, a set of teeth (tooth row), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dorasham 2, Ali Bashi Formation, which is in a Changhsingian marine horizon in the Ali Bashi Formation of Azerbaijan.
