Taxonomy
Neogeoceras thaumastum was named by Ruzhentsev (1976). Its type specimen is PIN 3637/3 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Maykhe River, Trench 469, Shkotovo District, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine horizon in the Lyudyanza Formation of the Russian Federation.
