Kayseraspis was named by Harrington (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-u O Aren-l Sepkoski's reference number: 565]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Megalaspidella (Kayseraspis) by Harrington et al. (1959).

It was assigned to Ogygiinae by Harrington and Leanza (1957); to Megalaspidella by Harrington et al. (1959); to Asaphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
