Miotermes insignis

Taxonomy
Termes (Termopsis) insignis was named by Heer (1849). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (von Seyfried collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Hodotermes insignis by Hagen (1858); it was recombined as Termes insignis by Heer (1864); it was recombined as Miotermes insignis by von Rosen (1913), Emerson (1933), Snyder (1949), Emerson (1965), Nel and Paicheler (1993) and Krishna et al. (2013).
