Taxonomy
Agrion aglaopheme was named by Heer (1849). It is an impression. Its type locality is Oeningen (von Seyfried collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Coenagrion aglaopheme by Kirby (1890).
