Mendolaspis was named by Rusconi (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren]. It is not extant. Its type is Mendolaspis salagastensis.
It was assigned to Raphiophorinae by Fortey (1975); to Raphiophoridae by Harrington and Leanza (1957) and Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
