Taxonomy
Comptosia pria was named by Wedmann and Yeates (2008). Its type specimen is MEI 12852, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Grube Messel grid square E8/9, 1.5-2.5 m above alpha marker, which is in a MP 11 crater lake claystone in the Messel Formation of Germany.
