Scarabaeides deperditus
Taxonomy
Scarabaeides deperditus was named by Germar (1839). It is an impression. Its type locality is Solnhofen (BSPGM Munich coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Mesobelostomum, Scarabaeides.
It was recombined as Hydrophilus deperditus by Weyenbergh (1873) and Weyenbergh (1874); it was recombined as Belostoma deperditum by Assmann (1877), Deichmüller (1886) and Oppenheim (1888); it was recombined as Mesobelostomum deperditum by Haase (1890), Handlirsch (1906), Carpenter (1932), Popov (1971), Lakshiminarayana (1984), Ponomarenko (1985), Nel and Paicheler (1992) and Popov (1992).
It was recombined as Hydrophilus deperditus by Weyenbergh (1873) and Weyenbergh (1874); it was recombined as Belostoma deperditum by Assmann (1877), Deichmüller (1886) and Oppenheim (1888); it was recombined as Mesobelostomum deperditum by Haase (1890), Handlirsch (1906), Carpenter (1932), Popov (1971), Lakshiminarayana (1984), Ponomarenko (1985), Nel and Paicheler (1992) and Popov (1992).
