Pseudomonotis (Pseudomonotis) speluncaria

Bivalvia - Pectinida - Pseudomonotidae

Gryphites speluncarius was named by von Schlotheim (1816). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gl├╝cksbrunn, Thuringen, which is in a Wuchiapingian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Zechstein Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Avicula speluncaria by Geinitz (1841) and Geinitz (1861); it was recombined as Monotis speluncaria by King (1850) and Howse (1857); it was recombined as Pseudomonotis speluncaria by Newell (1955), Fantini Sestini (1965), Logan (1967) and Muromtseva (1981); it was recombined as Pseudomonotis (Pseudomonotis) speluncaria by Newell and Boyd (1970) and Muromtseva and Guskov (1984).
