Taxonomy
Blattina heeri was named by Scudder (1875). It is an impression. Its type locality is Sydney coalfield, Cape Breton (Brown collection), which is in a Westphalian C/Westphalian D terrestrial shale in Canada.

It was recombined as Mylacris heeri by Scudder (1879), Scudder (1884) and Scudder (1895); it was recombined as Orthomylacris heeri by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1920) and Handlirsch (1922).
