Taxonomy
Mylacris mansfieldii was named by Scudder (1879). It is an impression. Its type locality is Cannelton, Vein C, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial shale in the Llewellyn Formation of Pennsylvania.
It was corrected as Mylacris mansfieldi by Scudder (1890), Scudder (1895) and Melander (1903); it was recombined as Orthomylacris mansfieldi by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1920) and Handlirsch (1922).
