Taxonomy
Vesicocaulis alpinus was named by Ott (1967). It is not extant. Its type locality is Karwendel reef, Austria, which is in a Ladinian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Wettersteinkalk Formation of Austria. It is the type species of Vesicocaulis.
