Blattina latinervis was named by Heer (1864). It is an impression. Its type locality is Manebach, which is in a Stephanian C terrestrial schist in the Ottweiler Stufe Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Sphalmatoblattina latinervis by Handlirsch (1906).
