Taxonomy
Laterispina parallela was named by Shen et al. (1994). Its type specimen is CHNT9054 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nantong Section, P-T Bed 1, which is in a Changhsingian coastal mudstone in the Changxing Formation of China.
