Taxonomy
Spirifer hemiplicata was named by Hall (1852).

It was recombined as Enteletes hemiplicatus by Keidel (1906), Zhang and Jin (1961), Mudge et al. (1962), Gauri (1965), Wang et al. (1982), Li et al. (1986) and Zhan (1989); it was recombined as Enteletes hemiplicata by Jin et al. (1985) and Shen and Zhang (2008).
