Taxonomy
Liangshanophyllum lui was named by Tseng (1949). It is the type species of Waagenophyllum (Liangshanophyllum).

It was recombined as Waagenophyllum (Liangshanophyllum) lui by Minato and Kato (1965) and Shen et al. (1998).
