Oryctoderma was named by Loeblich and Tappan (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon R]. It is extant. Its type is Crithionina rotundata.

It was assigned to Diffusulininae by Loeblich and Tappan (1961); to Oryctoderminae by Loeblich and Tappan (1988); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
