Raymondella was named by Reed (1935).

It was replaced with Reedaspis by Prantl and Pribyl (1949).

It was assigned to Raphiophorinae by Fortey (1975); to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Raphiophoridae by Owen and Bruton (1980) and Jell and Adrain (2002).
