Taxonomy
Neurotoma cockerelli was named by Rohwer (1908). It is an impression. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 17, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Atocus cockerelli by Rasnitsyn (1983) and Taeger et al. (2010).
