Taxonomy
Costispinifera paucispinosa was named by Shi and Waterhouse (1996). Its type specimen is GSC 96955 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 57053, Section 116F-16, Northern Ogilvie Mountains, which is in a Sakmarian carbonate limestone in the Jungle Creek Formation of Canada.
