Aulosteges dalhousii was named by Davidson (1862). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Moosakhail (Purdon coll), which is in a Wuchiapingian marine limestone in the Wargal Formation of Pakistan.
It was corrected as Aulosteges dalhousi by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Shimizu (1961) and Zhang and Jin (1976).
