Taxonomy
Terebratulites rostratus was named by Schlotheim (1820).

It was recombined as Spirifer rostratus by Münster (1841); it was recombined as Liospiriferina rostrata by Owen and Rose (1997), Alméras and Fauré (2000), Gahr (2002) and Alméras et al. (2007).
