Taxonomy
Aktastioceras mapesi was named by Shimanskiy (1993). Its type specimen is PIN 3536/3 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kosh-Agyl Nature Preserve, Southeastern Pamir, which is in an Asselian marine horizon in the Tashkazyk Formation of Tajikistan.
