Taxonomy
Chonetes avicula was named by Waagen (1884). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khura, Upper Productus-limestone, Salt Range, which is in a Changhsingian carbonate limestone in the Chhidru Formation of Pakistan.

It was recombined as Lissochonetes avicula by Shimizu (1961).
