Taxonomy
Parahelicoprion mariosuarezi was named by Merino-Rodo and Janvier (1986). Its type specimen is 6097, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jacha Khatawi Hill, fish horizon 2, Yaurichambi, which is in an Asselian open shallow subtidal limestone/sandstone in the Copacabana Formation of Bolivia.
