Taxonomy
Thaumatomma elongata was named by Sohn and Kornicker (1998). Its type specimen is USNM 488663, a valve (right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM9260, Episkopi, Hydra Island, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine packstone/wackestone in the Episkopi Formation of Greece.
